At 15:14 the top five compresses—Phil Staunton and Brendan Considine are in the mix with their own “thru 1” flashes—while Liam Rockall is still holding the line at “thru 3.”

Then comes the first crack in the story—at 15:40 Brendan Considine takes a triple-bogey/scratch moment on Hole 3, and suddenly the leaderboard turns from poetry to panic.

Phil Staunton looked like he was building a wall—then at 15:55 he takes a triple-bogey/scratch on Hole 5! That’s not just a hole, that’s a momentum funeral!

From there, it’s pressure math. At 16:25 Phil Staunton takes another triple-bogey/scratch on Hole 7—right as the board shows leaders rotating between “thru 6,” “thru 8,” and “thru 9.”

At 16:54, Liam Rockall is level at “thru 10,” Ciaran Considine is climbing at “thru 10,” and Tony McHale is already creating daylight with “thru 11.”

Phil’s pain isn’t done—at 16:56 he takes triple-bogey/scratch on Hole 9, and then the leaderboard is chaos by 17:04: Liam at “thru 10” even, Phil at “thru 9” +3!

Down the back nine, the groups are fraying at the seams. At 17:53 Ciaran Considine goes triple-bogey/scratch on Hole 14, and immediately the board separates everyone by “thru” numbers you can’t ignore.

This is the part where someone must be brave—at 18:54 Mike Rockall crashes with a triple-bogey/scratch on Hole 17, and suddenly the chasing pack’s heartbeat speeds up!

At 19:14, Liam is +2 “thru 18,” and Phil is +2 at “thru 17”—but Phil’s already done the hardest part: survive the back-nine chaos and keep his spot while others wobble.

So the Race for the Title ends at Galway Bay: Phil Staunton wins at -2, with Liam Rockall second at +2—while the Considines and the Rockalls delivered thrilling swings all the way through “thru 18.”
